BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — FireKeepers Casino Hotel in Battle Creek has reopened Monday with new safety measures being implemented to keep people safe as the pandemic continues.
First, FireKeepers said all guests and employees are required to wear a mask or facial covering at, all times, and smoking will be outside -- only at designated areas.

The casino will also have limited gaming. About half of the slot machines are active and there will be limitations on the number of people playing table games. Guests also cannot stand immediately behind a seated table games player.

Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant has opened Monday as well. These are all tribal casinos, which were excempt from Gov. Gretchen Whtmer’s extended stay-at-home order, which has been extended through June 12, which mandates that all casinos remain closed.

Detroit’s three casinos have not given a re-opening date. The closures have cost the city some $600,000 a day in lost casino revenue, according to Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan.
