“Now we must begin creating justice,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said Wednesday, following the inauguration of President Joe Biden.

The congresswoman issued her call to create justice in a tweet congratulating Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Specifically, she mentioned environmental action and improving “material conditions”:

A historic day. Congratulations to our new President @JoeBiden and our new Vice President @KamalaHarris.

Now we must begin creating justice, healing our planet, and improving the material conditions for all people.

The work is on all of us to organize and build a better future.

Part of her justice-creation involves abolishing things. On Monday, she tweeted a call to “Abolish ICE” (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and last Friday she tweeted her desire to “Abolish the death penalty.”

Following the election last November, Ocasio-Cortez implied that an archive of “Trump sycophants” should be created, so that they could be held accountable for supporting the president – and that their past speech will, somehow, be “deleted” – regardless of whether they expressed themselves through social media, writings, or photographs.

Later that month, she touted her $2 trillion Green New Deal plan as a way to create “environmental, racial, gender and class justice.”

In June of this year, Ocasio-Cortez said she embraces the term “radical,” because being radical is the way “to get to the root of the problem.”

“What it really means is if you are radical you get to the root of problems,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Which is why I have never been offended and I embrace that term because it means that we believe the systemic problems require systemic solutions,” she explained.
